Revised Highway CodeHi all,
One of the guys down here in sunny Southend sent me a email linking to a petition to amend the new drafting of the Highway Code that will specifically effect cyclists.
It appears fine at first until you think about the repercussions:
| Quote: | | Rule 58 "Use cycle routes when practicable and cycle facilities such as advanced stop lines, cycle boxes and toucan crossings where they are provided, as they can make your journeys safer." |
This means if you were unfortunate enough to sustain an injury in an accident with another road user and there was a cycle path nearby the other party could claim that you should have been cycling on the cycle path as required by the Highway Code.
I attach a link to the Cambridge Cycling Campaign as they have more info on the problem:
http://www.camcycle.org.uk/campaigning/issues/highwaycode/
and finally the Downing Street petition:

Cheers,
John
